Monthly Meet a Ranger: Ranger Steve!

Meetaranger2steveIt’s a cold and breezy day here at the Cove, and what better time to sit in your warm comfy offices or houses or wherever you might be and get to know a Cove Palisades State Park ranger!  In this months “Meet a Ranger”, meet our awesome park ranger Steve.   We hope to have a new park ranger in the region featured every 1-3 months so you can learn about what you have in common with a ranger, and the reasons we love our jobs and working for Oregon State Parks!

Hi Steve!  What’s your history with parks?  Cove Palisades State Park!

What was the moment you knew you wanted to be a Park Ranger?  We have had our family reunions at Fort Stevens, Cape Lookout, and most recently, Nehalem Bay State Park.   I have some very insightful interactions with park staff.

What is your favorite outdoor activity? Skiing.

Favorite type of food? German Pancakes

Favorite Movie? Young Guns

Favorite TV Show? It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Favorite Book? Brown Bear Brown Bear.

Favorite song? Headstrong

Favorite animal at The Cove?  Canada Geese

Favorite place in the world?  Newberry Caldera

Favorite quote: “It is what you make it.”

Favorite memory at the Cove? Getting issued a compliance notice when I was 16-years-old, visiting the park with my family.  I was disrupting the wildlife by throwing a foam bat at deer that were stealing my food.

••Thank you Steve for helping to keep our park a clean, fun, and enjoyable place to be!  Stay tuned into our blog to read about next month’s park ranger.••
